There are some primary sources I can thank for my marketing plans: The Hobbs Herder Group, Howard Brinton, and Tupper Briggs. In addition, I've worked for many years with a professional marketing, computer, and internet "guru" who I've learned to trust and I'm happy to pay his fee.
Before attending my first Hobbs Herder seminar, my ads consisted of house pictures, and neglected the fact that my market area did not know me, Jim Hermes, as well as it should. So I started an ad campaign to market the name and face of Jim Hermes. You will see the results in the postcards listed on the previous page.
I can't forget Chas Campbell. I would bring all of my marketing ideas to him so he could print the ads from his computer. He always made changes that improved the ad or post card. Two heads really are better than one!
Howard Brinton and Tupper Briggs work hand-in-hand. Tupper, an extremely successful realtor in Evergreen, CO, started running the type of ads that I will show you. Howard published these ads in a scrapbook and talked about them in his seminars. Both Howard and Tupper are not afraid to poke fun at themselves. They taught me that humor has its place in marketing.
I hope you like these ideas. Please share yours with me.
Your Minnesota Gopher,
Jim Hermes
